pURPOSE

REINFORCEMENT / REINFORCERS
Token reinforcers

Children can turn in their points for stars stickers as a reward
Natural reinforcers
Reinforcers that occur directly as a result of the behavior
A student studies hard and does well on their exam, resulting in good grades
A child shares a toy and receives a hug, resulting in feeling appreciated
Social reinforcers
Reinforcers that involve others expressing their approval or a behavior
A teacher/parent saying, “Awesome job! or “Excellent work!” to a student
tangible reinforcers
Reinforcers that are actual physical or tangible rewards
Toys, treats (ice-cream), etc. :)
context driven
The effectiveness of a reinforcer is dependent upon context
